Live from Osaka

Check out the possible futures being generated by visitors to the Swiss Pavilion at the 2025 Expo in Osaka-Kansai, Japan, where the Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation is debuting.

The Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation Combines Art, Science and Diplomacy to Make Emerging Scientific Knowledge Accessible to Everyone.

This pioneering installation lies at the heart of the Swiss Pavilion, 2025 Expo Osaka-Kansai, Japan

This interactive journey provides a space for imagination beyond what currently exists, where humans and AI shape new opportunities and narratives to navigate unpredictable futures and tackle complex global challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration.

In partnership with

The Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation, a GESDA and EPFL eM+ collaboration, links emerging science with society. Showcased at the 2025 World Expo’s Swiss Pavilion with Presence Switzerland.

Where science meets imagination: an interactive experience

The Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation invites visitors to engage with emerging scientific trends and co-create potential futures spanning the next 5, 10, and 25 years. Through interactive storytelling, visitors will blend human creativity with artificial intelligence, exploring possible futures related to quantum technologies, space exploration and the future of infectious disease treatment, for example. Visitors will have the opportunity to select parameters such as scientific topic, emotion and time horizon to generate unique, AI-powered visualisations, fostering a collaborative exploration of possible futures.

Powered by the GESDA Science Breakthrough Radar®

The Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation draws on data from the GESDA Science Breakthrough Radar® compiled by the insights of over 2’100 scientists from 197 countries, mapping scientific breakthroughs expected within 5, 10 and 25 years. Covering Quantum, AI, Neuroscience, Biotechnology, and Climate, the Radar distills insights from 65,000 data points across five scientific platforms, 29 topics and 116 subfields.

A unique research initiative

The collaboration between GESDA and EPFL’s Laboratory for Experimental Museology transforms the Radar into an interactive experience, exploring how complex scientific data can be made accessible, participatory and meaningful to a broad audience. This initiative bridges the gap between science and society, fostering curiosity, understanding and global dialogue on science and technology.
